CIVIC STUDIES 11: Evolution or Revolution? (4 credits)
The world is changing and people in countries such as Tunisia, Egypt and Libya are speaking out about the kind of government and political decision-making that they want. This class will focus on the same issues...what does it mean to be an informed, participating and responsible citizen? Students will become aware of their civic responsibilities and expectations, as they participate in discussions, interactive assignments and socially-relevant projects.

COMMUNICATIONS 11 (4 credits)
This course satisfies the Language Arts 11 requirement for graduation and is an alternative to English 11 for students not planning to go directly to university.

COMMUNICATIONS 12 (4 credits)
Students study a variety of literary works. Grammar and composition focus on the writing skills required for personal and business use as students strive for precision in language. This course satisfies the Language Arts 12 requirement for graduation.

DATA MANAGEMENT 12 (4 credits)
The majority of the course will be hands-on learning
of the more advanced features of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel,
Access and PowerPoint.

DIGITAL COMMUNICATION & SOCIAL MEDIA 12 (4 credits)
From Facebook to YouTube, social media has become an integral part of our digital world. In this course, we will be using many of these tools and technologies (blogs, wikis, Twitter, Google Apps, etc.) to examine how to be a critical consumer and producer of digital information. We will be looking at our own digital footprint--what is it and how do we manage it? By examining the many new means of communicating, we will build personal learning
environments and networks that will be valuable well beyond this course.

EARLY PSYCOLOGY 12 (4 credits)
If you are planning a career working with children, as an early childhood educator or a daycare provider, this class will give you some basic knowledge about the critical early years. Topics include: the early years, adolescent growth and development, parenting issues and strategies, and family relationships.
