CHEMISTRY 11 (4 credits)
Students will learn about atomic theory, classification of matter, the mole, chemical bonding and reactions, the periodic table and organic chemistry.

CHEMISTRY 12 (4 credits)
Students will extend the knowledge gained in Chemistry 11 to study reaction kinetics, energy changes and equilibrium during reactions, solubility, acid base equilibrium, oxidation-reduction reactions, and electrochemistry. Laboratory work is included in this course.

CIVIC STUDIES 11 (4 credits)
Civic Studies 11 focuses on the study of government, political decision-making and what it means to be an informed, participating and responsible citizen. The majority of the course content is centered around current events that are relevant to the lives of both teenagers and adults. Students will become aware of their own civic responsibilities and expectations as they participate in discussions, interactive assignments and socially-relevant projects.

COMMUNICATIONS 11 (4 credits)
This course satisfies the Language Arts 11 requirement for graduation and is an alternative to English 11 for students not planning to go directly to university.

COMMUNICATIONS 12 (4 credits)
Students study a variety of literary works. Grammar and composition focus on the writing skills required for personal and business use as students strive for precision in language. This course satisfies the Language Arts 12 requirement for graduation.

DATA MANAGEMENT 12 (4 credits)
The majority of the course will be hands-on learning
of the more advanced features of Office including Word, Excel,
Access and PowerPoint.

DATA MANAGEMENT 12 ONLINE (4 credits)
This online course focuses on 4 areas: computer basics,
business software (Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Access),
the Internet (Internet technology as well as website design), and
multimedia technology. It is designed to accommodate students who
have had little computer experience.

DRAMA: FILM AND TELEVISION 12 (4 credits)
How would you like to learn about the history of motion pictures, the major style developments in filmmaking and complete your own short movie? This course will look at some of the greatest moments in film history, furnish you with its concepts and language, reveal the key elements of video production, and discuss why certain films are masterpieces. Get ready to take a deep look at why this medium is one of the most fascinating and influential art mediums of the twentieth century.

DIGITAL VIDEO & PHOTOGRAPHY 12 (4 credits)
Students will develop a basic knowledge related to 2D digital photo design. Students will learn how to use a digital camera to capture an image and use software to design and compose an original digital document. They will develop presentations of their photographs and designs using slides and a personal website. Students will also develop a basic understanding of the processes and tools involved in digital video production - from the pre-production stages where students will learn the use of a digital camera and various lighting techniques to storyboarding and directing, to the post-production where students will use software to develop a short digital video. A critique of modern digital media will allow students to develop a critical eye. As well, students will discuss a variety of new technologies and analyze new software, procedures and policies.
